Position: District Project Officer – 1 (Jumla)
ANSAB is currently seeking dynamic, energetic and career-oriented field based candidates for the ongoing and new projects under its two program areas: Pro-poor Economic Development Program, and Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Climate Change Program. Detail of the positions with responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications are as follows:
Position: District Project Officer – 1 (Jumla)
Main Responsibilities
Overall coordination of the project in the district;
Facilitate local NGOs for organizing local communities;
Support local communities for preparation of business plan;
Provide support to Field Coordinator for value chain assessment of the most promising NTFPs;
Facilitate local communities and private entrepreneurs to establish local and district level processing enterprises;
Organize NTFP traders and processors into association and network;
Link local entrepreneurs and traders with local, regional and national level buyers for their product marketing;
Facilitate buyer seller meetings;
Conduct forest inventory including NTFPs;
Provide guidance to CFUGs for revision and amendment of Operational Plans (OPs) for sustainable commercial production and marketing of NTFPs;
Coordinate with district and local level government and civil society organizations to enhance synergy in the project;
Support in joint monitoring including line agencies, journalists and media;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor degree in any discipline with Intermediate degree in Forestry and two years of work experience;
In-depth knowledge on NTFP sector of Nepal;
Good knowledge on organizing community groups, developing business plan and facilitating market linkage of natural products;
Ability to plan and prioritize work duties as well as work competently under pressure and tight deadlines;
Proficient in using information technologies and good computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package (MS Word, MS access, MS Excel);
Proficient in both written and verbal Nepali and English;
Knowledge on social survey and community mobilization would be an advantage;
Prior work experience in Karnali region with ANSAB or similar nature of organizations would be an advantage.
